Oct. 1: Paul Dukas, French Composer

BORN OCTOBER 1st:

Paul Dukas (1865-1935) French composer who wrote L'Apprenti Sorcier (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), famed for his portrayal by Mickey Mouse in Disney's Fantasia. Dukas was also a music critic, and apparently his own harshest critic: he wrote quite a number of works that never saw the light of day, because, perfectionist that he was, he destroyed them for not meeting his standards!
