Oct. 6: Alfred, Lord Tennyson, English poet

DIED OCTOBER 6th:

Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809-1892) English poet who wrote Idylls of the King; "Ulysses"; and "The Charge of the Light Brigade." Poet Laureate of Great Britain and Ireland (1809–1892), through most of the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). Much of his poetry riffed on mythological and medieval themes.
