BORN NOVEMBER 5:
Will Durant (1885-1981) American writer, historian, and philosopher best known for his mammoth 11-volume encyclopedic work, The Story of Civilization, co-written with his wife Ariel. Published over a 40-year period, it began with Our Oriental Heritage and ended with The Age of Napoleon. He also wrote The Story of Philosophy.
