BORN DECEMBER 7:

Willa Cather (1873-1947) American author primarily of the Great Plains more or less around the turn of the 20th century, such as O Pioneers!, The Song of the Lark, and My Ántonia. My personal favorite is Death Comes for the Archbishop, set in my beloved Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her novel, One of Ours--set during World War I and moving from a Nebraska farm to the battlefields of France--won the Pulitzer Prize in Literature (1923)
