BORN OCTOBER 10th:
Harold Pinter (1930-2008) English playwright who wrote The Birthday Party, The Homecoming, and Betrayal. Pinter won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2005. He is perhaps better known to a wider audience for his screen adaptations of the works of others, such as John Fowles's The French Lieutenant's Woman and the 2007 film version of Anthony Shaffer's play, Sleuth.
